1961 – Rocklin Front Yard Water

The PCWA project called for replacement of an existing water main system under some very challenging conditions. The existing water mains were installed in residential front yards when the housing development in this area was built in the 1960’s. Because the PCWA’s maintenance/repairs often require removal of resident’s concrete driveways and ornamental landscaping, the Agency determined that there was a need to install new water mains and service lines to provide reliable service to the area. The project involved:

• Replacement of 10,000 LF Water-main in various waterline sizes between 4”-12”, installation of over 260 individual service lines, repaving of all ditches, and repair of over 450 potholes, front yard landscape and driveways;
• Dynamic schedule coordination and adjusted operations to meet the concerns of local homeowners and a tight overall project schedule;
• Access/traffic control coordination with a clear line of communication with the public regarding ongoing and future operations;
• Hard rock conditions requiring the right resources to trench through an existing 50+ year old street with minimal collateral damage. to install 10,700 lf of new water main, services and appurtenances in the existing residential streets and to each service location.
